{"id":19115,"date":"2026-04-13T16:05:36","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T14:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kernkonzept.com\/?post_type=events&#038;p=19115"},"modified":"2026-04-13T16:08:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T14:08:21","slug":"kernkonzept-is-part-of-semecos-2nd-project-phase","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/www.kernkonzept.com\/de\/kk_events\/kernkonzept-is-part-of-semecos-2nd-project-phase\/","title":{"rendered":"Kernkonzept is part of SEMECO&#8217;s 2nd project phase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"auto\" data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\"><em>The Dresden-based innovation network SEMECO (\u201cSecure Medical Microsystems and Communications\u201d) has secured a second round of funding from the German Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), which allows Kernkonzept and our project partners another 3 years of working together.<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The SEMECO innovations ecosystem is Europe\u2019s first medical electronics cluster that focuses on medical needs. The goal is to transform the healthcare sector by integrating modern semiconductor and secure communication technologies. These can be medical technology applications like portable ultrasound devices, medical sensors, or smart communication implants for people with hearing and speech impairments.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">In the second project phase that will start in May 2026, Kernkonzept will continue to develop our open-source L4Re Hypervisor to work for the modular platform approach: Medical semiconductors, electronic, and software components are developed separately, then securely integrated and gradually refined. The L4Re technology provides the basis for a secure system architecture on which trusted medicinal devices are built.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The SEMECO project is a collaboration of renowned research institutions, companies and start-ups in and around Dresden, the capital city of Saxony and one of the leading microelectronics locations in Europe.
