CC EAL4+ Recertification of L4Re Secure Separation Kernel CC under EUCC

L4Re Secure Separation Kernel CC 1.0.2 recertified with CC EAL4+ under new EUCC scheme

In April 2026, the L4Re Secure Separation Kernel CC was successfully recertified at EAL4+ level of the internationally recognized, very strict Common Criteria standard.

While the Common Criteria recertification at EAL4+ level for our L4Re Secure Separation Kernel CC was still based on the CC v3.1 standard, the certification process was one of the first to be transitioned to the newly introduced EUCC certification scheme – which is a big step for European digital sovereignty.

Our customers can continue to trust in the consistent security quality of the L4Re technology, now under the harmonized European cybersecurity framework that integrates existing national procedures based on the Common Criteria (ISO 15408) into a unified framework. The EU-wide recognition eliminates time-consuming national recognition procedures within the European Union.

This is especially important for our customers and partners who manufacture and deploy security-critical IT systems, which need to be certified and re-certified on a regular basis. Our recertification to CC v3.1 simplifies the development and certification of complex systems, particularly in regulated sectors such as critical infrastructure. Here, our L4Re Secure Separation Kernel CC 1.0.2 provides a crucial foundation that brings various benefits:

  • Using an already certified separation kernel and following the configuration guidance significantly reduces certification risk and time.
  • With L4Re’s composition-based approach firmly embedded in the certification process, our customers can focus on the certification for their own products, which significantly shortens time-to-market.
  • The new EUCC scheme means that customers can now rely on a defined quality standard that is recognized in all EU countries, which greatly simplifies EU-wide distribution.
